As part of our celebration leading up to International Women's Day and our Women in Business 2nd Annual symposium, the Women in Business Club is streaming Women for Women International for #SheDares Stories: Amplifying Women's Voices, a virtual panel discussion about the lives of courageous women across Sudan, Afghanistan and Palestine, daring to stand up for their rights and bring change - even in the most difficult and dangerous circumstances. The event is moderated by Marie Clarke, our Chief Programs Officer in conversation with the following amazing, daring women:
Since the start of the conflict last April in Sudan, nearly 8 million people are displaced and over 1.4 million people—mostly women and children—have fled to neighboring countries. Millions in Sudan are facing emergency levels of hunger and Violence Against Women (VAW) is rampant.
In Afghanistan, nearly 20 years of progress for women and girls’ rights have been erased since the Taliban takeover. Women are barred from getting an education, working in most jobs and even traveling on their own.
In Gaza, two mothers are killed every hour and over 27,000 Palestinians have been killed in the latest escalation of this decades long conflict, 70% of them women and children.
Through this event, we want to bring voices from these regions to discuss how, despite the challenges, they are bringing change to the lives of women survivors of conflict and war.
